As Loyd said I will be meeting with my Corvete counterpart who has been volunteered by Craig (Jimmy's Partner) to get the Corvette group organized by Feb 27th. At this time I will present all the information, rules, and race dates, entry fees, payouts, Best reaction time and Run on your dial competition, etc to the perspective Corvette racers. Those that will commit to race our series for 2010 will then become CCGSCA members and away we go. I didn't want to write too much about this until it was a done deal. I have an alternate plan if this falls through but the Buick-Corvette Race Series looks promising.....More later.

If this change in format with the Vette club comes thru, does this open the door to other brands as well? If a club member has another brand of car will they be allowed to particapate as well?

I would hope not. This is supposed to be a Buick club. I think the Corvette only thing is ok, but if we are going to let all brands race, then we may as well forget the Buick thing and run in a different series, such as IMSM or something. Not trying to kill ideas, but adding any car just for a car count is a bad idea in my opinion.

I think it should be all Buick period. But since my car isnt done, and I dont own a Vette, it really doesnt matter what I think. Im just inquiring in case I may somehow end up with a non Buick "street car" in the near future.

I like the corvette with us. I think it will help us with our car count as it is always dwindling. I liked the reaction Craig had to the t-shirts Paul had " we brake for corvette's".

I don't have a problem racing the vettes but this is about BUICKS, if i remember we let buicks that were not powered with buick motors to run with us and they only showed up one time that i know of. And i thought that there was more than 20 menbers that owned buicks in the club so were are they, and why don't they support the events so we don't have to race with other makes. just my opinion as a member.

One thing for sure is I appreciate and understand your opinions. All four of them. It would be very nice if more "Members" who intend to race this year would post up their two cents also. However I do value everyones' opinion, I would really appreciate more comments from those that plan on racing this year.
Dennis - the door is only open for Corvettes at this time. So keep building that monstor BBB GN.....
Steve B. I share your frustration but you can't force members to race their cars if that is not what their interest is. This club offers much more than just racing. I wish we could turn back the hands of time to the years when there were 30 to 40 (Buicks) and three brackets. I would even be thrilled if we had enough cars for two brackets, but we don't. I am anticipating a smaller car count this year than last year due to the economy alone. My intention is not to be the Buick anti-christ, but to find a way to keep this an active and interesting race series for those who still want to race.
However, In the interest of keeping this an all Buick race series, how many cars do you the racers think is enough that we wouldn't have to accept the Corvette owners' offer to race with us?
Why don't we have a roll call and ask those that are planning on racing in our series this year to post up and let us know that you plan on racing and give your opinion on what the mininum car count should be to keep this an all Buick series. Then tell us how you feel about Corvette participation. Those that aren't planning on racing this year are also very welcome to give an opinion. I hope to be surprised and find out we have more racers than anticipated.
We'll let this run until Feb 28th in hopes to give enough time for as many posts as possible. At that time I will also have more information from the meeting with the Corvette people. Then we will be able to make an informed decision.

I will copy and paste this into a new thread since this is the 2010 race schedule thread. Please go to the "2010 Roll Call Thread" to respond.

I like racing against others. I keep going back to The Original Pau'ls comment as the Buick ranks are being wiped out at Osceola, we need to step this up. Racing others may give us that chance.

I don't think the problem is buick guys not wanting to race, as much as it is the rotten economy. I still have'nt rebuilt my motor, I'm lucky to make mortgage right now. Letting Vettes in now is OK with Me
