CCGSCA Race #2 Great Lakes Dragaway June 12th 2011

Confirmed with GLD our second race of the season will be Sunday June 12th 2011. We will be joining the Import Wars event. Randy has asked that we arrive early and be ready for eliminations when the track opens.

As we did last year we will need a list of racers to be sent to GLD in order to receive our reduced race and spectator fees. I asked about maintaining last years race and spectator fees in the e-mail I sent him but he gave no response so I'll take that as a "Yes, That will be fine".

I will be posting more information as it becomes available. Please post as soon as possible if you will be attending Race #2. The list will be sent to Randy Thursday morning June 9th.

This will possibly be a cookout race so I will be asking for a head count from those who will be eating once the menu is released. More to come.....

We don't need a list for spectators at GLD as long as you are riding with somebody who is racing. However, if you are coming to spectate and will not be with someone who is racing THEN I will need to add your name to the list. Thanks, See Ya There. :D

New deatchwerks fuel pump should be here tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of time to get it installed before the 12th!

TOM RIX, Spectator...? Bring that Red Car out Tom...!

Sorry but I forgot to list the race and spectator fee for GLD. Race fee for GLD this year will be $25. Spectator fee is $10. Enter through gate 1, tell "JC" you are with the Chicagoland Buick Club. She will have the list of racers and spectators. Spectators arriving with a racer do not need to be on the list
Make sure you are charged correctly because the regular race and spectator fee on June 12th is $40 and $20. If you remember thank "JC" for the reduced rate for the Chicagoland Buick Club. She was instrumental in keeping it the same as last year. It "pays" to be a member of the Chicagoland Buick Club...!!!

The "Director of cookouts" Dan Rocco has decided to have a basic cookout at Race 2 this Sunday. :D . The Cookout Director will be doing the cooking but don't let that discourage you. :P . Dan has decided to keep it simple with Hamburgers and Hotdogs. There will be a side or two of something, and desert. I believe the club will supply pop and water. The donation will be $5 or under depending on cost. I think it would be easier to ask those who prefer not to join in on the cookout to please post up or send me a PM so we can estimate how much food to bring.

I told Denise Dempsey to be ready to go about 8:30 so we can go over racing procedures with her. I am going to ask GLD to let us take her down the track (slowly) before they start T&T just to familiarize her with the burnout box, line, track, finish line, return road, etc. I could designate you as race instructor if you would like...? But I would be glad to do this for Denise. We can work this out at the track...

Looks like it's going to be a nice day Sunday. The weather looks ideal. Thanks to all our Buick family who are attending. Looks like we're going to have a nice turnout with both racers and spectators. There will be plenty of food and now we have our Official CCGSCA Chef Jackque is helping with the cooking, you shouldn't leave hungry...! Menu: Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, HotDogs, Potato salads, Shari's salad, Chocolate Chip cookies, Cake, water & pop, and who knows what else we might bring. The cookout will most likely be $5 per person. Sounds like a party. :D

just a few of my reminders.....Enter through gate 1. JC will be at gate one with our list. Like I said above if you remember thank JC for the Buick club discount since she was instrumental in keeping it the same as last year.

I still think it's best to pit down at the end of the staging lanes. There are shade trees there and plenty of room. Dave will get there early and save spaces.
Since we're in the grass bring mosquito repellant to spray the bottom of your pants to protect against Wisconsin critters nibbleing at your ankles. (I'm serious).

PLEASE make sure your membership is up to date. If you're unsure check with Shari and if necessary get yourself up to date. With our discounted rate Sunday at GLD, you break even.

We will be qualifying on a sportsman ladder by "reaction times". Lane choice first round will be by best reaction time. To change things up a little and try something different, subsequent round lane choices will be chosen by who ran closest to their dial-in the previous round. Ya I know, now we have to include a calculator in our tools but what the heck... .

"Best Reaction Time" and "Run On Your Dial-In" are still paying $25 for each. (During Eliminations).

The club race fee will be paid after qualifying. Club race fee is $15, please try to have exact amount.

Points are awarded to the top five qualifiers. This will make a difference in the final points standings so go after that tree... :x

If you get there early enough there will be three dozen "drop Dead" really good doughnuts that you really must try. They are being special delivered from a bakery in McHenry. First come, first serve... :D

Any Questions...? See Ya at GLD.

Walt Judy and Paul Brelie ran the last race. Paul won, but something was wrong with the lights in Walt's lane so they split the winnings! I'm sure Joe will do a write up when he gets a chance.

On 5 gallons of gas I did 2 10 second runs and drove 75 miles home and still have gas left over.

Thanks Steve. I thought the lunch was great too. Hope everybody enjoyed it. There is alot of work involved in feeding 30 people. Dan and Jack really worked hard cooking and keeping up with everything. Eddy was a big help with collecting the money. Racing was great also. I'll write a recap shortly.

Cliff - Steve's becoming known as the disappearing club racer...! It was great having you race with us Cliff. I hope you keep coming out.
