I am trying to think up an easier way to do this but until then we still have to send GLD a list of racers and spectators. However, All We Need Are The Names of Those Racing and Those spectators who will not be arriving with a racer. For example I don't need Shari's name because if she comes she will be with Loyd who will be racing. GLD race fee is $25. GLD spectator fee is $10. Chicagoland Buick Club spectators will not have to pay to park in the pits. This is per Randy at GLD. I will need to send the list to GLD next Thursday evening.

Just the usual reminders.....Enter through gate 1. JC will be at gate one with our list. Please remember to thank JC for the Buick club discount since she was instrumental in keeping it the same as last year.

PLEASE make sure your membership is up to date. If you're unsure check with Shari and if necessary get yourself up to date. With our discounted rate Sunday at GLD, you break even.

We will be qualifying on a sportsman ladder by "reaction times". Lane choice first round will be by best reaction time. To change things up a little and try something different, subsequent round lane choices will be chosen by who ran closest to their dial-in the previous round. For those mathematically challenged bring a calculator.

"Best Reaction Time" and "Run On Your Dial-In" are still paying $25 for each. (During Eliminations).

The club race fee will be paid after qualifying. Club race fee is $15, please try to have exact amount.

Points are awarded to the top five qualifiers. This will make a difference in the final points standings so go after that tree...

I'm sorry but I will not be able to attend this race because my Father's memorial has been scheduled for August 7th. Loyd will be running the show for me.
I don't think there will be a cookout unless the cookout director wants to set something up. I guess I'll have to wait until race #5 to spoil the day for you top points leaders...!

CCGSCA Race #4 recap

Postby Turbo Loyd » Mon Aug 08, 2011 6:24 am

Well what started out as a rainy day turned out great for racing with cooler temperature, and great Chicago humidity. Racers who came out could have gotten all the testing and tuning laps in they wanted.

Cliff Bryan with his very fast Street GN
Dan Weiland with his 1971 GS Convertible
Loyd Bonecutter with the 1986 Regal Limited
Keith Egan with Amanada's GS
Paul Brelie with his 1986 GN
Bill Grupp left the winning red LeSabre at home opting to race the Green GS
Jon Samuel making laps at the track with his 1969 GS
Brad Fairhurst with his 1985 GN hot air car that was flying to the point they mentioned one more run without a helmet
Joe Olsen was all smiles learning how to improve his reaction time, and hot lapping the track

The tree was set from reaction times with Cliff having a 004 and Keith Egan a 006. In the three rounds nobody got their dial in time.

first round Keith edged out Bill Grupp. It sure was cool seeing the two GS blast down the track side by side.
Dan Weiland and Paul Brelie raced with Paul wanting the lowest reaction time prize, so bad he took a red light.
Cliff Bryan and Loyd Bonecutter raced with Loyd taking a 008 red with serious traction problems allowing Cliff to motor back and forth to keep just ahead

Second round saw Cliff getting the bye round and Keith prevailing over Dan in close race.

Third round saw Keith cutting down the tree, but his GS lost 4 tenths from his estimate as it slightly cooled off.

Jon, Brad and Joe had fun tuning their cars and learning the tricks for dragracing so all the succumbed to the foul weather prediction watch out for the new racers

Loyd, If you can post the top five qualifiers, Best reaction time winner, and if anyone ran on their dial-in, I could update the points...

Hi Joe

Cliff Bryan won the best reaction time with a 004. There was nobody on his game and ran his dial in.

Top qualifiers were Keith with a 004, Bill Grupp with a 006 and from there on we will have to ask the group for their best reaction times as the print out from the track does not give reaction times.

Reaction times during our three rounds of qualifying only count for extra points. I believe the 004 and 006 were during eliminations.

My best qualifying RT was an 056. I think Bill had an 040 and Keith something below that.............I could be wrong.

Yes, points are given to the top five qualifyers. Loyd says the printout from the track does not have the reaction times on them. I now have your best reaction and Dan weiland's best reaction time. If the other racers can post their best "Qualifying" reaction time I can ge the points updated.

.056 Paul Brelie
.110 Dan Weiland
.006 Bill Grupp - Need this confirmed or corrected
.004 Keith Egan - Need this confirmed or corrected
? Loyd Bonecutter
.120 Cliff Bryan

Cliffn Bryan won Best Reaction Time during eliminations with a .004.....Is this correct...?

That was a great run Rocco. 26.32 right on your dial. Never saw a Ford Fiesta get off the line so aggressively!
